A service provided to implement the provisions of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal

To adhere to the following:
- Royal Decree no. 119/94 Ratifying the Basel Convention
- Ministerial Decision no. 18/93 on the Management of Hazardous Waste
- Basel Convention Procedures published on the Convention’s Website
- Ministerial Decision no. 10/2017 amending some provisions of the Regulations for Hazardous Waste Management

-Amending some provisions of the waste export regulations

-Regulations regulating the import and transit of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
- The technical specifications of licenses issued by the Environment Authority
- Submission of an application to export waste under the Basel Convention after receiving approval of the notification
- For export, a list of all exported shipments shall be submitted, along with transboundary movement documents as per the notification document

  • As per the period set out in the notification document or until quantity running out (whichever is earlier))

One (1) working day, subject to meeting all requirements

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED open-box

- In case of export:
o Contract between exporter and importer
o Details of treatment steps and the facility receiving waste
o Vessel/Ship route, list of transit countries of the waste shipment and details of its movement upon arrival to the import country
o A pledge to take the responsibility of reshipping waste in case the shipment is rejected by the import country and finding alternative solutions – advance notification document
o Bank guarantee or insurance policy covering the cost of damages caused by any environmental damage, pollution, or leakage

 

- In case of transit:
o Bank guarantee or insurance policy covering the cost of damages incurred as a result of any environmental damage, pollution, or leakage
o Notification document
o Waste movement document
o Approval of contact point in the country of import
o Approval of contact point in country of export
o Contract between importer and exporter
o A pledge to take the responsibility to return waste shipment if any problems arise resulting in changes to the agreement or if denied entry
